At The Produce Company, we’re proud to partner with Magills, one of New Zealand’s oldest and most respected family-owned butchers. For chefs and professional kitchens seeking premium, locally sourced meats, Magills delivers unmatched quality, tradition, and innovation.

A Legacy of Craft Butchery Since 1939

Magills began in Te Awamutu in 1939, founded by Mr. Magill and later passed on to Adrian Van Der Hoeven, a Dutch immigrant with a passion for butchery. Today, the business remains in the Van Der Hoeven family, led by Mike and his sons John and Edward—with the next generation already learning the craft. This deep-rooted family legacy ensures every cut is made with care, tradition, and pride.

Artisan Quality: Vandy’s Streaky Bacon

One of our standout products from Magills is Vandy’s Streaky Bacon, a chef’s favourite for its rich flavour and artisan preparation. Made from NZ Duroc Pork, this bacon is:

  • Traditionally dry cured

  • Double Manuka smoked

  • Crafted from skinless pork belly (94%), with salt, brown sugar, paprika, and natural curing agents

This bacon brings depth and smokiness to breakfast plates, burgers, and gourmet dishes—perfect for professional kitchens that demand excellence.
